Special Thanks

The guest of honour at the event was Denmark’s Jan Erikson, President of FEE, who applauded Scotland’s commitment to significantly reducing its carbon emissions and setting 2020 environmental objectives. He also commented on the fantastic partnership between Keep Scotland Beautiful and the Scottish Government which has seen Eco-Schools Scotland become world leaders in the deployment of local green initiatives.

At the event a special mention was made of Fife’s Commercial Primary School. The school was presented with the FEE Green Flag and Certificate making them the 1400th school to receive this accolade. The award is the highest of its kind given to schools in Scotland and is awarded through the Eco-Schools Programme.

John Harris, Chairman of Keep Scotland Beautiful, welcomed the international guests; he was delighted that the Foundation for Environmental Education had chosen to hold its executive conference in Scotland.

He said: “The Foundation for Environmental Education is one of the most important climate change organisations in the world and we are delighted to welcome them to Scotland. This event represented a real honour for our organisation and is a celebration of the work that we are undertaking in local communities up and down the country. Keep Scotland Beautiful is one of the nation’s leading charities engaged in the fight against climate change and also to keep the country and the planet beautiful for this generation and future ones. We are honoured that this vital work is recognised and that Scotland’s reputation, internationally, is so highly regarded.”

NVT Group feels very strongly about partnerships in Scotland, having recently partnered with the Scottish Government to promote best practice with regards to procurement. The contract awarded to NVT delivers a framework agreement for desktop and hardware maintenance. Another significant part of the agreement is NVTs Corporate Social Responsibility which ensures active promotion of environmental best practices.
