The street light has been installed at Pakefield Cliffs in Lowestoft as part of an ongoing trial for the ADEPT Live Labs Project.

The ADEPT SMART Places Live Labs Programme is a £22.9m project funded by the Department for Transport.

In 2017, ADEPT created the SMART Places Research Programme to examine the opportunities and challenges facing the adoption of digital technology across the local highway network. Phase 1 of this programme culminated in the publication of ‘The route to the highways systems of the future’ in October 2017.

Live Labs is Phase 3 of this programme (Phase 2 was a further development stage). Nine local authorities and their partners are working across eight innovative projects. These will develop new SMART approaches across communications, materials, energy solutions and mobility.

You can view the OMNILED units a bit closer to home, too

The OMNILED units are currently deployed in the car park of the recently opened Arnold Clark Innovation Centre, in Glasgow.

NVT Group is a proud sponsor of the Innovation Centre, which aims to showcase the benefits of Alternative Fuel Vehicles (or AFVs), such as electric and hybrid cars – which are becoming increasingly crucial since the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans will officially cease in 2030.

Since OMNILED is powered by renewable energy sources, the Arnold Clark Innovation Centre is the perfect location to provide its smart lighting and IoT services.

You can find out more about the Arnold Clark Innovation centre by clicking here: www.arnoldclark.com/innovation-centre.

Of course, you can also pay the centre a visit (health and safety guidelines permitting) at 701 Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, G11 6NA.
