‘NVT Cares’ is the name for all of NVT Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
We have been active in CSR initiatives for many years, making donations to our charity partners, assisting with local community projects, providing sponsorships to young athletes in training and raising sizeable amounts for several good causes.
Previously we have taken part in litter picking and environmental clean-up initiatives. We have raised extra funds by taking part in dress down days and bake days. We have climbed mountains, walked over fire and participated in numerous Kiltwalks.
Some of the charitable organisations we have supported include NSPCC, Maggie’s Centres, Enable (Scotland), Friends of the Beatson, Macmillan Cancer Support, St. Andrews Hospice, Kilbryde Hospice, The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, British Wheelchair Bowls Association, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, MND Scotland and the Viewpark Food Bank.
WHAT WE CARE ABOUT
‘NVT Cares’ is more than an empty sentiment. We can illustrate multiple initiatives and activities in all three of the following areas…
We CARE about PEOPLE – including our employees and the people in our wider communities.
We CARE about THE ENVIRONMENT – and ways in which we can reduce carbon emissions and minimise waste.
We CARE about TECHNOLOGY – specifically how it can enhance lives and facilitate change.
We promise to do business ethically and strive to make a notable contribution to the enrichment of people’s lives through the application of green technology solutions that enable positive change.
We aim to achieve this by:
Improving efficiencies – facilitating achievement and advancements quicker, with less effort being expended, thus…
Reducing environmental impacts – using sustainable technologies to reduce the harm done by people to the environment by reducing carbon emissions and minimising waste.
Investing in, implementing and supporting the proliferation of technology that achieves the above, helping to bring capability to wherever it is lacking.
Some of our most important 'NVT Cares' initiatives
‘NVT Together’ is the overarching name for our employee investment and engagement programmes.
Under this heading are our Investors In People & Investors In Young People programmes and our Gold recognition for both.
It also includes our award-winning Modern Apprenticeships programme and our commitment to being a ‘Living Wage’ employer.
Our charity committee meets regularly to generate ideas which support our charity partners.
The committee also plans our fundraising activities and encourages company-wide participation, to help maximise charitable giving.
We raise funds by taking part in activities such as bake days, sponsored walks, mountain climbs and more.
This special cloud solution from NVT Group is created with the needs of the third sector in mind. It allows charities to drive efficiencies while achieving operating cost savings.
It also promotes collaboration and the sharing of resources with other charities and has knock-on benefits for the environment due to the reduced need for server room hardware.
Cycle 2 Work Scheme
As part of our initiatives to promote health & fitness in our workforce, NVT Group has long been a promoter of the Cycle 2 Work scheme.
Not only does Cycle 2 Work promote health by encouraging daily exercise, it also has benefits for the environment by reducing the numbers of motor vehicles on our roads.
Reuse & Recycle Programmes
We promote programmes which aim to reuse and recycle materials. Employees are encouraged to recycle waste and we are engaged in single-use plastic reduction initiatives throughout our premises.
We also work with CCL North to ensure that zero technology waste ends up in landfill and critical materials are recovered for reuse.
NVT Group is ISO:14001 accredited.
ISO:14001 is the ISO Quality Standard related to environmental management.
It helps organisations to minimise how their operations negatively affect the environment, comply with environmental regulations and continually improve in these areas.
We have introduced technologies that enable our employees to work from home and therefore reduce the need for commuting to our office.
If our employees absolutely need to travel on business, we encourage the use of public transport wherever possible.
We are investing in systems that automate processes, improve business efficiencies and reduce the need for travel.
For example, we use Concepta technology to monitor the health of client computer networks to check for problems that need to be corrected.
The system sends support requests to our Service Desk, ensuring swift remote remediation and reducing the need to travel to client premises.
Our ‘Cloud Nine’ awareness programme promotes the use of cloud computing technology to help reduce carbon, power costs and computer waste.
We believe that by making the switch to the cloud, the average business can save NINE tonnes of carbon per year.
Smart Energy Platform for IOT
Our Digital Placemaking business is the sole UK supplier of OMNILED, the smart energy platform for Internet of Things.
OMNILED offers smart lighting for outdoor spaces and is powered by wind and solar energy.
In addition to lighting, OMNILED provides the platform for a host of other IOT applications, which makes it the ideal solution for smart cities and communities.
We provide sensor technologies which, when combined with our connectivity solutions from Aiir Networks, are enabling Smart Farming approaches that reduce environmental impacts.
Through our VIOTU business, we also supply sensors which create process efficiencies, monitor outdoor environments, protect the integrity of medicines and assist with crowd control.
Arnold Clark Innovation Centre
NVT Group is a proud sponsor of the Arnold Clark Innovation Centre, which showcases the latest electric vehicle technologies and other carbon reduction initiatives.
If you visit the centre, keep an eye on our OMNILED smart lighting columns in the car park.
